Notes from the Redwoods
March 23, 2005

  <>Dear families,

Well I suppose by now you have noticed that we didn’t have the Slavery Fair  today as initially projected.  We butted up against a few obstacles.  We actually just needed an additional week to finish our projects.  So we will be ready at the end of this week.  Unfortunately the next week is Spring Break. The week we return from Spring Break, we will be knee deep in an Art Residency…so we are now scheduling our Slavery Fair for Thursday, April 14th.  We’ll have the fair from 10:00 – 11:00 that day. Thanks for your understanding.  The fair includes a variety of wonderful projects.  The Redwoods and the Pines have done a great job working together and are excited to share their learning at the fair. If you can join us, please come.

<>The snow day left a problem in regard to our last Enrichment Class.  Some groups will meet on Thursday afternoon to complete projects.  Some groups simply were not able to meet due to a variety of reasons (i.e., class leader not able to attend on a day other then Friday), so Thursday p.m. will be a bit different.  Some students will attend Enrichment Class others are invited to play “table games”.  If your child has a fun board game at home, s/he can bring it to school on Thursday. <>

As soon as we return to school on April 4th, we will begin a week long Art Residency.  Joko Sutrisnomu will be the lead artist with us in the art of Indonesia-Gamelan orchestra and dance. The week promises beautiful dancing and music.  There will be an afternoon performance on Friday between
12:30 and 2:30.  More details to come.

Well, hard to believe…we are heading into Spring Break.  It is exciting to reflect how much the children have grown in all areas of their learning this year.  This time after Spring Break is always a fantastical whirl of events.  You can look forward to, your child’s last Narrative Report, Spring Conference, May Day, Spring Concert, and our annual camping trip.  I’ll keep you posted as we move along through our calendar.

Have a relaxing and wonderful Spring Break!
