This contract is signed by all fourth and fifth graders at the beginning of the year. It is signed by second and third graders as they begin to expand their independent internet use. A discussion on internet safety and ethics is a part of the contract process.
Internet and Computer Contract
I, _________________________________, understand that using a computer at Prairie Creek Community School is a privilege, not a right. By signing this document, I promise to abide by the following rules:
I will use the internet search engines linked to the Prairie Creek internet search page. If I use a different search engine, such as Google, I will work with an adult.
I will not send or check e-mail while at school unless I am working with an adult on a school related project.
I will not download or install any programs.
I will try my best to give credit to the websites from which I use information and pictures.
I will stay within “one-click” of the Prairie Creek site or student search engine page.
If I come across a page that makes me uncomfortable, I will turn off the monitor (or close the laptop) and find an adult right away.
I will not give out my name, age, address or other personal information to any site or person on the web. I will check with an adult if a site requests this information.
At home and at school, I will not use a computer to hurt another person.
